Founded in 2017, In Lak’ech Dance Academy is a Queer, Trans, and Ally Bachata & Salsa Dance Academy, based in Oakland CA. The Directors, Angelica Medina and Jahaira Fajardo, offer opportunities for growth and healing through dance and are actively building an inclusive, loving community of talented dancers. They would like to create visibility by training strong Queer performers, as they believe that visibility increases awareness & open mindedness - which has a positive impact on the LGBTQIA+ community as a whole.This festival aims to highlight and celebrate Queer/Trans dancers and their Allies. It includes three days of dance – workshops, performance challenge, performances, pool parties, social dancing until 5am and more!
